Your writing is so fun to read. You put words to the thoughts I struggle to articulate. I wholeheartedly echo your point on how the right novel at the right time can change your life. I've felt something similar with well-written television (emphasis on well-written). Watching a show from the 2000s sometimes feels like time travel. Tony Gilroy (an extremely talented screenwriter) once described movies as short stories and television shows as 1500-page novels. I see a lot of interesting parallels between how we view television today and how the 18th century viewed novels. I wonder what people will be writing about television three centuries from now :)).

Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun writing this, so I’m glad that enjoyment translated to the reading experience. YES, we’re definitely in (or emerging from?) moral panic and mass hysteria over television watching… I’ve also always felt that well-done media (especially movies, for me) can be life changing and are incredibly important. They’re just another medium for storytelling, which, frankly, is crucial for humanity’s survival. Movies and television shows can definitely be considered art

It’s interesting how new mediums seem to provoke moral panic before we take them seriously as art. You're absolutely right about storytelling being crucial for our survival. I think well-done media is worth engaging with regardless of the medium, because the story and the human impulses behind it are what really matter. And like you said, even the best work only really lands if it finds you at the right moment :)). I really enjoyed this piece, thank you for replying!

Yes exactly! Kind of like AI is provoking moral panic now. Thank you for reading :)
